Students in the Fresno Unified School District will be keeping a district computer with them during the school year. Students should take the computer home after school and bring it to school each morning. This is for the purpose of accessing digital learning materials at both school and home. This page provides technology related information to support you with computers and software for digital learning.
What technology does my student need for digital learning?
Your student will need the following:

What if my student does not have a computer?
Students in grades Pre-K through 6th grade can visit a FLATs center to pick up a computer. Click here for locations.
What type of computer will my student receive?
- Students in grades Pre-K through1st will receive a Microsoft Surface GO.
- Students in grades 2nd and up will receive a Windows laptop.
How do I update my student computer and update Microsoft Teams on my device?
- Update Microsoft Teams for Desktop
- Run Updates via “Check Online for Updates form Microsoft Update”
- Set Chrome as your Default Browser
- Clear Cache and Cookies in the Chrome Browser
Can my student use a personal device?
Students can us their personal devices for digital learning. The following list of personal devices can be used:
- Windows computer: Windows 8.1 or later
- Apple computer: Mac OS 10.10 or later
- Android Tablet or Phone: Android Version 4.4 or later
- iPad or iPhone: iOS Version 10 or later
What if my student does not have access to the Internet?
If your student needs internet connectivity, a hotspot can be picked up at the FLATs center.

What platform will my student use for digital learning?
Microsoft Teams is the recommended hub for digital learning. This app can be accessed in the browser at Office.com or downloaded to your personal computer or mobile device (click here for download options). Teams brings together a variety of Microsoft tools including Posts, Files, Class Notebook, Assignments, Chat, and more. Your student’s teacher will also use our adopted digital curriculum in the grade level and subject areas where they exist.
